Opening ports in CentOS 7

CentOS 7.0 doesn’t use iptables anymore to handle the ports, and it has been replaced by firewall-cmd.

In the following example, I show how to permanently open the port XXXX:

# run as super user, su/sudo
firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-port=XXXX/tcp
firewall-cmd --reload
